Alabama IVF clinic resumes treatments after law provides protection

At least one clinic in Alabama has resumed in vitro fertilization treatments after the governor signed a bill into law shielding providers from potential legal liability raised by a court ruling that equated frozen embryos to children.

Alabama Fertility Specialists performed several embryo transfers Thursday, news outlets reported. Video from CBS News showed staff celebrating with a toast, and Dr. Mamie McLean said seeing patients again was “incredibly exciting.”

“We were able to talk about IVF care,” McLean told CBS News. “We were able to timeline — lots of smiles, lots of hope and optimism.”

LANSING, Mich. – Work has resumed on the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) I-94 Jackson County project. Work will proceed from M-99 to M-60, including the Parma Road entrance ramp to westbound I-94.

Funding for this $162 million project is made possible by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s Rebuilding Michigan program to rebuild the state highways and bridges that are critical to the state’s economy and carry the most traffic. The investment strategy is aimed at fixing results in longer useful lives and improving the condition of the state’s infrastructure.

ALMOST TWO months after it suspended visa services in Canada over its Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s allegation of a potential Indian link to the killing of Canada-based Khalistan separatist Hardeep Singh NijjarIndia resumed e-visa services for Canadian nationals on Wednesday.

“Indian eVisa facility has been restored with effect from November 22, 2023, for all eligible Canadian citizens,” the Indian High Commission in Ottawa tweeted.

Last month, India had restored visa services in several categories including entry visa, business visa, medical visa and conference visa. But tourist visas have still not been restored for Canadian citizens.
