Alabama IVF clinic resumes treatments after law provides protection

At least one clinic in Alabama has resumed in vitro fertilization treatments after the governor signed a bill into law shielding providers from potential legal liability raised by a court ruling that equated frozen embryos to children.

Alabama Fertility Specialists performed several embryo transfers Thursday, news outlets reported. Video from CBS News showed staff celebrating with a toast, and Dr. Mamie McLean said seeing patients again was “incredibly exciting.”

“We were able to talk about IVF care,” McLean told CBS News. “We were able to timeline — lots of smiles, lots of hope and optimism.”

Job applicants have enough to think about when applying, interviewing and eventually securing new employment. But for many prospective employees, the most foundational aspect of their identity can get them eliminated from the hiring process right off the bat.

According to a survey by hiring software platform Greenhouse, 20% of job applicants feel their name is a “red flag” for recruiters, and they’ve changed it on their resume to sound “less ethnic,” younger or a different gender. Thirty-four percent said they’ve experienced discrimination in the recruiting process due to their ethnicity, age or gender.

I-94 Jackson County project resumes

LANSING, Mich. – Work has resumed on the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) I-94 Jackson County project. Work will proceed from M-99 to M-60, including the Parma Road entrance ramp to westbound I-94.

Funding for this $162 million project is made possible by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s Rebuilding Michigan program to rebuild the state highways and bridges that are critical to the state’s economy and carry the most traffic. The investment strategy is aimed at fixing results in longer useful lives and improving the condition of the state’s infrastructure.

SK Group initiated a substantial reform with the revival of its Saturday executive meetings, marking the first such occurrence since the introduction of a five-day workweek in July 2000. As uncertainty continues both domestically and overseas, change is also afoot at the South Korean conglomerate .

According to industry sources on Sunday, SK Group conducted a meeting of its Strategic Global Committee on February 17th, 2024, that was attended by about 6 to 7 key CEOs, including Chairman Chey Chang-won, who also heads the SK SUPEX Council, the group’s highest decision-making body.

ALMOST TWO months after it suspended visa services in Canada over its Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s allegation of a potential Indian link to the killing of Canada-based Khalistan separatist Hardeep Singh NijjarIndia resumed e-visa services for Canadian nationals on Wednesday.

“Indian eVisa facility has been restored with effect from November 22, 2023, for all eligible Canadian citizens,” the Indian High Commission in Ottawa tweeted.
