​The pandemic has caused millions of people to quit their jobs, leaving companies scrambling to find ways to hold on to their top employees and attract new ones.

Q. Were you in a leadership role when you were a child?

A. I was captain of the swim team and several other roles. But it wasn’t high on my list to be a CEO when I grew up. I was blessed with parents who let me explore various things. I remember, when I was 6, telling my mom I was going to be a flight attendant. She said, “That’s an interesting career, because you get to travel
