SK Group resumes Saturday executive meetings
SK Group initiated a substantial reform with the revival of its Saturday executive meetings, marking the first such occurrence since the introduction of a five-day workweek in July 2000. As uncertainty continues both domestically and overseas, change is also afoot at the South Korean conglomerate .
According to industry sources on Sunday, SK Group conducted a meeting of its Strategic Global Committee on February 17th, 2024, that was attended by about 6 to 7 key CEOs, including Chairman Chey Chang-won, who also heads the SK SUPEX Council, the group’s highest decision-making body.
The Strategic Global Committee meeting, which involved top decision-makers from SK SUPEX Council members and CEOs of key subsidiaries, was previously held monthly on weekdays. But the meeting frequency and day were changed to bi-weekly Saturdays, with the February 17th meeting the first to take place under the revised schedule.
The revival of Saturday executive meetings within SK Group after 24 years reflects the sense of crisis within the group’s leadership, according to market watchers.
